It's
always hard in any city to be aware of what's new on the club
scene, and Edinburgh is no exception, with clubs coming and going
constantly. Weekend nightlife centers around the venues in the
West End, the Grassmarket and The Cowgate, all packed on Fridays
and Saturdays. While in Edinburgh be sure to check out the following: Bannerman's,
this popular pub, in a series of huge rooms off Cowgate, has a
great atmosphere, and is an ideal venue in which to be amused
with video screens, cards, board games and substantial food. Ensign
Ewart, close to Edinburgh Castle, this popular pub, named after
a hero of Waterloo, offers good food and beer, and is noted for
its regular folk music sessions. Espionage,
four bars and some packed dance floors offer a mixture of cutting
edge Commercial House, chart toppers and 80's music. The theme
is spies; it's always packed and is great to chill or groove.
The Subway, one of Edinburgh's busiest clubs is to
be found in darkest Cowgate, featuring live music from emerging
bands alternating with a wide range of contemporary pop.
